Nursing graduates nowadays has been always dreaming to get a nursing job immediately. Sad to say, there isn’t much vacancy of nursing jobs lately. Local hospitals has been cost cutting due to economic crisis. One way of doing it is cutting off the hiring new employees and it includes nurses. Worst scenario might even reach to ending the contracts of their current employees.

If before Hawaii has shortage of nurses, right now it’s the other way around. They are experiencing oversupply of nurses wherein even to their local graduates they can’t provide enough nursing jobs. This is not unusual though as other states in US also experience the same. This is due to the continued recession in the country. Nurses whose spouses lose their jobs due to recession withdrew their resignation to compensate the loss in the family’s income.

In fact, the turn over rate of nurses at Hawaii Pacific Health dropped to 4% from 18% three years ago. Hawaii Pacific Health the state is the largest health care system which is employing nearly 1,600 nurses. This is according to Gail Lerch, RN, HPH’s executive vice president. The Hawaii Medical Center have reduced beds thus further diminishing nursing jobs.

Sad thing that this is happening. The large supply of nurses is now adding up to the growing unemployment rate. Although this has been predicted, this phenomenon is indeed a serious challenge.

What is Travel Nursing?
In the simplest of terms, “travel nursing” means that you are travelling to different locations in or out of your primary country of residence for the purpose of securing a short-term, temporary nursing position at different medical facilities. Today, there are a number of staffing agencies that target this type of employment and offer certain incentives to men and women who are willing to work in this fashion.

The Benefits of Travel Nursing in the U.S.
Compensation factors are the key benefit to travel nursing jobs. For the most part, you receive some great benefits when you land any travel nursing jobs. These are often better than nursing jobs that are full-time and permanent positions. It is not uncommon to see any of the following compensation benefits with most jobs of a travelling nature:

Guaranteed compensation and more of it – travel nurse jobs typically pay better in most
circumstances than full-time, permanent nursing positions. Additionally, the rate of take home pay is usually higher.

Referral bonuses – since referrals of experienced individuals tend to strengthen the travel nursing industry, many staffing companies look for positions that afford referral bonuses when they are looking to add to their nursing staff.

Completion and sign-on bonuses – another benefit of travel nursing jobs is that they offer these types of bonuses that can often equate to around an additional £4,000 ($6,000 USD).

Experience and building your resume – experience speaks volumes in the travel nursing industry. So if you want to pursue international travel nurse jobs, the U.S. is a great starting place.

Ways of Getting Into International Travel Nursing
If you are already in the nursing industry and you want to see the world, travel nursing jobs are the perfect way for you to achieve your goals. International travel nursing has become a big industry in the past decade and the demand for travelling nurses increases every year. There are four things to take into account to get into international travel nursing:

Education and experience – if you do not have an undergraduate nursing degree, this is your starting point. If you do have a nursing degree, you will need to work for two to three years as a registered nurse in a clinic or hospital before you can apply for any travel nurse jobs.

If you have the above under your belt, start applying at a number of international travel nursing
staffing companies – a valid form of ID will be required along with other documentation as requested by the nursing company.

Geographic location you are interested in – travel nursing jobs last anywhere from 30 days to 12 months, so you need to choose the location where you want to work wisely.

Interview in person, online or on the phone – staffing recruiters will always be available to interview you if you have the qualities they are looking for within a specific job and location.

Possible Wage Comparison
Salaries or wages will vary from one location to the next whether domestic or international. Depending on the country’s currency, the wages you receive could more than compensate you for your efforts. As an example, travel nurse jobs in the U.S. will typically pay up to 15% more than full-time, permanent positions. Depending on the country you work in, your income could be tax free meaning that you would bring home more wages every pay period.

In the medical world, nurses and doctors are working hand in hand in taking care of patients. Even though medical care won’t be that effective without each other, there has been a distinct difference between the two in the terms of status level in the hospital. In the ladder of authority, it is always the doctor on top then the nurses following them. In delivering medical care, the doctor will give orders for the patient and it would be carried out by the nurses. Nurses are most often referred as doctor’s assistants.

CRNA or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist are paid more than a Family Doctor. Based on the numbers of Merrit and Hawkins & Associates, a physician recruiting firm, CRNA’s have an average base salary of $189,000 compared to $173,000 of Primary Care Doctors. A staffing expert Kurt Mosley said that it has been the fourth year in a row that CRNA’s were recruited and are paid higher than family doctor. In this case, it seems that the placement in the ladder has changed position in terms of salary.

What are the responsibilities of CRNA’s:

If your a CRNA, you are an advanced practice nurse who administers anesthesia to patients. You work in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. CRNA’s are performing patient assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, administering and maintaining the anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management, overseeing patient recovery from anesthesia and caring for the patient’s immediate post-operative needs.

How to become a CRNA?

If yo want to become one, you must be very willing to render 7 years to education and clinical practice in order to meet the minimum requirements. A Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing is required or other appropriate undergraduate degree, must be registered nurse and a master’s degree from one of the more than 100 graduate schools of nurse anesthesia.

Training to become CRNA:

Must have at least one year of experience in an acute care setting, such as an emergency room or critical care unit, and complete additional training in a large hospital setting. A registered nurse will pass a national certification exam following graduation to obtain the CRNA designation and must complete at least 40 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain the designation.

The requirements to become CRNA is quite tiring to accomplish but in the end its worth it. Filipinos are known to be dedicated individuals and are among the most number of nurses around the world. If ever time will lead you to USA, better become a CRNA to pay off all the effort.

America is seeking a lot of nurses for full time and regular employment. Yes, the United States is finding it hard to fill in the numerous nursing job opportunities in the country.

According to Forbes, the aging American population needs more and more health care workers. One of the reasons for this is that many nurses are reaching retirement age already. Meanwhile, advances in medicine are making patients survive and need treatment longer.

Furthermore, Karen Miller, the dean of the nursing school at the University of Kansas Medical Center says that it’s hard to produce nurses in the country because there is also a shortage on teachers.

This is why nurses are so much in demand. And nursing jobs abroad are more in demand than ever in the US.

Well, if you’re looking for a Certified Nursing Assistant job in the United States, then you should know that a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), State Tested Nurse Aid (STNA) or Nursing Assistant-Registered (NA/R) is a person who assists individuals with their healthcare needs. These are who you call patients, clients and service users.
A certified nursing assistant will help in the activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide bedside care, which includes basic nursing procedures. These are done under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

However, in other countries like the United Kingdom, a CNA can also be called a Nursing Assistant (NA), Auxiliary Nurse (Aux-N), Patient Care Associate (PCA), Nursing Tech (NT), Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Healthcare Support Worker (HSW) or Clinical Support Worker (CSW). Nevertheless, the responsibilities are the same.
