For Filipino nurses, we will now answer the basic questions just in case you want to work in Japan as a nurse or candidate-kangoshi.

How can I apply as a nurse in Japan?
Go to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) or apply as a nurse online.

What are the requirements to apply?
A nursing license in the Philippines and a 3-year work experience as a nurse.

How much is the salary of nurses in Japan?
The average starting salary for nurses is around P60,000. This is just an estimate.

What are the expenses of the applicants who wants to work in Japan?
There will be nominal expenses such as document submission/authentication, medical examination, and visa fee. Airfare and onsite training costs will at the expense of the employers or the Government of Japan.

Do I need to know how to speak Nihongo or Japanese to work as a nurse in Japan?
It is not a requirement for application but you do need to learn the language. According to the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services, you will need to memorize 600 Kanji (Chinese characters), 1000 Japanese words, and spend around 600 hours of study to be accepted for regular work in Japan as a nurse.
