Aside from taking care of their patients, one alternative career for nurses is to become a nurse educator or a nursing educator.
They can teach undergraduate level who are preparing to become licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and registered nurses (RNs) for entry into practice positions. However, they may also teach master’s and doctoral level programs and help educate advanced practice nurses, nurse educators, nurse administrators, nurse researchers and future nursing leaders.

DOLE just announced that they have work openings for the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras via the Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) program. The government is looking for a total of 160 nurses whose work will start by October 1, 2009.

“The Lady with the Lamp” entered the field of nursing in 1845, even though her upper-class British family disapproved. During the Crimean War, Nightingale lobbied the British government on behalf of the terrible hospital conditions for wounded soldiers in Turkey.

A total of 32,617 out of 77,901 passed the June 2009 Nurse Licensure Examination, the Professional Regulation announced Saturday.
Golda Manto Yap, a graduate of the Felipe R. Verallo Memorial Foundation, topped the exams, getting an average score of 86.80 percent.
