Resume Sample, Template and Tips for Nurses
Are you looking for resume samples and resume templates for registered nurses? Do you want tips on how to write a resume for nurses, caregivers and other health care practitioners? Then here are some tips on how to write an effective resume:
1. Avoid too many industry-specific initials in your resume.
Some people who will read your resume are not nurses and will not know the meaning of those abbreviations. Spell them out the first time you say it and use the initials in subsequent mentions of the term.
2. Mention your nursing job experiences and not just your clinical skills.
Always include any business, administrative or managerial tasks you have experienced as a nurse. This includes budgeting, scheduling, handling special projects, providing training to other nurses and others.
3. Highlight valuable accomplishments.
Your resume is not a job description, so don’t mention anymore the routine duties that you do as a nurse. Focus on the significant achievements you have attained as a nurse while working in your previous jobs.
4. Don’t mention all the hospitals and clinics you have worked in. Just mention the total number and list down those which are popular.
Instead of listing down everything, simply write a 2-3 sentences that will summarize your work experience as a nurse. Then mention only well known hospitals and clinics you’ve worked in.
I hope these tips were able to help you come up with an effective resume. Remember that your resume is the first thing that your potential employer will read, so it’s better to always have a good impression of yourself in your nursing resume.

There is some benefit in value adding & showing additional skills, but remember you’ve usually only got one page or so for a resume. You may want to list any additional skills in a cover letter.

Cover letter is important, if the employer want to know what you have to say.
